Epionce Lite Peel Skincare FAQs

The Epionce Peel System is a combination of salicylic derived from willow bark, which is more lipophilic and comedolytic than other traditional glycolic and lactic peels. The Epionce Peel Systems can be used on Fitzpatrick Types 1-V, including sensitive and mature skins. When used in combination with the malic acid, tthis procedure produces a response similar to a Jesner Peel, with greater safety and eddicacy, with minimal to no- downtime. It follow the Epionce philosophy of providing an active product without causing innecessary irritation.

Salycyclic acid is a BHA and is a derivative of aspirin. It minimises the pluggin of folicles through its ability to be oil soluble. Salicyclic is able to lift the debris that is in the follicle and increase cell turnover in the statum corneum. This acid is ideal for treating acne, Rosacea, hyperpigmentation and age management.

The results are refined pores, greater skin clarity, reduction in redness, and improvement in texture and acne break outs.

Malic acid is a larger molecule than Glycolic or Lactic, so it penetrates slowly and is very effective for sensitive skin types. Because malic acid maintains a pH of <2 as it goes throught the skin surface when applied after the salicylic step, it is able to penetrate deeper than glycolic or lactic acid, stimulating cell turnover without excessive exfoliation. Malic acid reduces problem bacteria, enhances skin hydration and brightening. Best suited for ageing, acne and hyperpigmentation.

Results are smoother, brighter, more hydrated skin.

In our 2os and 3os, our skin is at its optimum cell turnover rate, with new cells making their way to the surface of the skin every 28-32 days. As we age, this process slows, which causes increase dead skin cell buildup on the surface of the skin. Superficial peels encourage cell turnover by loosening the bonds of the "glue" that holds skin cells together, and after the initial light exfoliation, your skin appears fresher and smoother.

The Sal-e-Peel is a Beta-Hyfroxy Acid (BHA) and its effects on the epidermis and upper dermis (where melanin is created) are similar to those of Retin-A, but with less irritation. It is soluble in oil and can exfoliate oily skin areas, even with oil-rich pores. Therefore, it has a beneficialeffect on pigmentary disturbances and sun damaged kin. Because it does exfoliate, sun protection is required following the peel procedure. The Sal-e-Peel can be used in combination with Melano Corrective System (in clinic Pro Mask & at home Melanolyte Tx product), see Melanolyte products.

BHA is a derivative of aspirin and is often used in skin care products to accelerate skin turnover, clear out pores and reduce disease-causing microbe counts. This improves the visible appearance of acne and problem skin. BHA penetrates more deeply, especially into pores, than Alpha Hydroxy Acid(AHA). The Epionce Peel System is a superficial peel, it does penetrate to the bottom of the epidermis but there is minimal downtime associated with our peel. It may be applied in layers which can be easily adjusted for appropiate delivery. The peel is comparable to a jessner peel, but made with gentler ingredients e.g. malic instead of lactic acid and no resorcinol or hydroquinone.

Realistic goals of superficial peels:

  1. Peels can help correct environmental damage
  2. They can help reduce mild to moderate scarring
  3. Your can experience a reduction or softening of your fine lines and wrinkles
  4. Improvement of dark skin discoloration is possible
  5. They can remove excessive or stubborn blackheads
  6. They peel may temporarily reduce excessive skin oils
  1. This is not a procedure to get rid of keloidal types of scars
  2. Peels are not a "face-lift"

Superficial: extends into stratum granulosum

Smoother skin texture, reduced or cleared blemishes, easier extractions of comedones, clarity improvement, enhances moisture content

Mid Depth: extends into papillary dermis

Actinic Keratosis; for slightly deeper lines and solar damage

Deep: into papillary dermis or upper reticular dermis

Some, but not all, types of acne scarring; deep photo damage

Peels are not a substitute for plastic surgery. For best results, recommend a series of a least 2-6 treatments, then re-asses patient goals.
